WelFarmers at the 2025 Teagasc Pig Farmers’ Conference 🇮🇪

During the annual Teagasc Pig Farmers’ Conference, held on the 7th and 8th of October in Tipperary and Cavan, WelFarmers was represented by Dr. Vivi Aarestrup Moustsen from SEGES Innovation (Denmark), one of the project’s Work Package Leaders.

Vivi delivered two presentations focusing on future housing options for lactating sows and space allowance and flooring for grower pigs. Drawing on her extensive research and experience, she discussed Denmark’s progress in improving pig housing and welfare, including upcoming legislative changes related to space and flooring requirements.

As part of her talks, Vivi also showcased Good Practices identified through WelFarmers — particularly from the themes Loose Housing and Space Allowance & Flooring — demonstrating how research-driven solutions can be applied in practice to enhance both welfare and farm sustainability.

The conference, which gathered nearly 180 participants from across Ireland, remains one of the key annual events for knowledge exchange within the pig sector.
